Okay im after a few recommendations

Rather than keep chucking money at my car im after the same effect but cheaper.

I had been toying with the idea of a big brake upgrade but as my car only has 17" wheels it would mean shelling out around £1k for 18's and decent tyres. I dont see the point in this as the 17's are perfectly fine and give me all the grip i need.

So what i am after is recommendations for Brake Discs and Pads. If Poss i would like the pads to have the sensor in them but not absolutely necessary.

Also i have Eibach ARB's

What settings in what combination would people recommend from experience.

Front Hardest, Rear Hardest

Front Softest, Rear Softest

Front Hardest, Rear Softest

Front Softest, Rear Hardest

Front Medium, Rear Medium

Front Hardest, Rear Medium

Front Softest, Rear Medium

Front Medium, Rear Hardest

Front Medium, Rear Softest

Think thats all the possible combinations

Im not too fussed about which induces more understeer/oversteer and can handle either. Im more interested in which gives the best handling for the car.

Cheers

i have my eibachs set on stiffest on the rear bar, and softest onthe front bar, and it handles better than stiff setting on both. I tried it on the medium setting on the front but it was marginal difference. so put it back to soft front.

Im focusing on handling and track work at the monment so power options oin hold. WALK and bushes, followed by brakes then power.

As for brake discs and pads the going favourite is ferrodo DS2500s for pads, but i am not sure if they have wear sensors. I am curreently running tarox strada pads, these have wear sensors and are better than oem ones for fast road work, but when used on tracks they were not up to the job.

Didnt know S3 brakes wouldnt fit under 17s.

any recommendations where to get the ds2500 pads from?

jkm sell them ,alternatively type ferrodo ds2500 into google, then click the shopping tabs and you should get a list of vendors up

The Golf R32 and Cupra II brakes fit just fine with 17 inch wheels.:)

I thought they did too. And I might just have a set for sale Mater :D

I spoke to JKM and their big brake set up (345mm) which i believe is standard S3, does not fit under 17" wheels according to them.

You can't blame me for trying Carl. :P

R32/S3/Cupra R are all the same just the colour is different. I have some new Cupra R stoppers on the way.;)

I thought the cupra R was a mk1 leon or do you mean the mk 2 cupra.

If so will they fit the MK5 platform. whats size are they, i know the mk1 leon cupra R had brembo stoppers..

Simon. There is a Mk2 Leon Cupra R and the brakes fit. I know this as the brakes from one are currently sat in my garage awaiting fitment tomorrow.

:tongue2:

This may help. Red or Blue, Cupra R or R32.

JKM Performance - TFSI Products - Brakes

gotcha, i knew those ones fitted. and are supposable cheaper to buy than the S3 or R32 counter parts(not sure if thats true though)

i thought the mk1 had the cupra R(which had brembo brakes) and the mk2 leon has just the cupra or cupra K1, (which had 345mm 1 pot brakes, as above).

I wasnt sure which ones you meant. :o
