cam belt cover?

Featured Replies

I have just collected my elegance 1.9tdi from the garage following a service and cam belt kit change. looking at the belt there isn't a cover over it and I can't remember if there should be. Have the garage forgot to refit it ?

If you can see the belt and pulleys then the cover is missing. Back to the garage pronto, before they put it in the skip!

Thanks for that RSBSPT I'll be there in the morning , Have rang the garage but they say they can't see anything on the bench and have asked me to bring the car and show them what I think is missing.

:o:O:O Went back to garage (Farmers @ nottingham) Very nice mechanic says show me the problem . Look says me - THERE- you haven't replaced the cambelt cover, I can see the belt - coverless !!. You know that pittying look that superior beings have for us poor mortals ? No sir, came the reply - thats the belt for the alternator - THIS is the cambelt cover! What could I do but apologise to the VERY nice mechanic. SO - apologies to all mechanics who have to deal with members of the public who don't know their a***e from their elbow.:o:O:O:O

I should have said if you can see the toothed belt and pulleys. Still, better safe than sorry.
