Well, from the description.......it *could* be an RS2 - that was the porsche-audi

Is it a very bright blue?

yep its a very bright blue estate and has odd looking emblems all over it!! Its about 15 years old me thinks!

K:)

if it's an RS2, the porsche named should be on the rear tailgate iirc.

Does it look like an old Audi 80 Avant?

If it is an RS2, it will be about 15 years old now.....produced between 1994-1996

I'm your man if you want to talk RS2's, I have an S2 which is very similar.

They weren't just available in blue, the colour is RS Blue (RS Blau) and was a Porsche colour available for other Porsche cars.

180 (possibly 181 I think) RHD examples were made, although a few left hookers were imported.

315bhp from a 2.2 I5 turbo, the engine wasn't reworked it just had a new turbo, injectors and different FPR. Used Porsche 5x130 hubs and Cup wheels. Brakes were from a 968CS IIRC (and were actually pants).

Would you like me to bore you further?

You're not boring me...

An S2 or RS2 is one of many cars in my dream garage.

Here's a few pictures of mine for posterity

That looks like the S6 is it?, bit too long for the 80Avant/S2

Er, nope, it's an S2 (I ought to know, I own it!).

I was confusing myself, not the smartest of things to do!!!!!

So there was an S2 Coupe/Saloon and avant, the RS2 was the Porsche one.

The S4 was when the A4 came out

and the S6 was the bigger A6 powerhouse? Got it.

I think,.....

Ah well, it's not as simple as that either...

The Audi S2 Coupe came out in 1990/1991 which was based on the normal Audi Coupe. It was 220bhp. The Avant was launched in 1993 and was 230bhp but also had coil pack ignition rather than distributor. Around the same time the Coupe took this engine on too. The RS2 was a collaboration with Porsche and was built in Stuttgart. It was the first Audi RS car and put out 315bhp with the use of a larger turbo, bigger injectors, different intercooler etc.

The S4 and S6 were both based on the Audi 100 and had a slightly different but nearly the same 230bhp 2.2 I5 engine as the S2 Avant. I think these appeared around 1993. Not sure what the reason is but there are cars out there wearing S4 and S6 badges even though they were based on the same car.

Then Audi moved to the "A" names cars and the "A" and "S" started to go hand in hand. A3 - S3, A4 - S4 etc. The RS badge returned with the B5 RS4 but it didn't have anything to do with Porsche but more to do with Cosworth who Audi owned at the time. This (as per the RS2) was only available as an Avant but there are a couple of Saloon conversions out there.

Forgot to mention, there was no S2 Saloon for the UK market although some LHD ones do exist on the continent. The S2 saloon is the one everyone wants, due to it being rare and lighter than the Coupe and Avant. If Audi had released the S2 saloon over here it would have caused a real storm ;)

The RS2 was Avant only, one or two saloons were reportedly built but remain unfound apart from a couple of pictures.

 What a car....

One of these? I was at the motorshow in London when it was launched , I am pretty sure it was the same year as the Audi ASF concept was on the stand.

Very rare car, as said only 180 RHD out of just under 3000 models made. 0 -30 in 1.5 seconds, faster than a Maclaren F1

I'd have one tomorrow if I could justify one. I'd also have a B5 RS4.
