For those of you who said it needed lowering..

Featured Replies

..here it is!

-20mm Eibach lowering springs fitted by AV Performance in Burton-on-Trent on Tuesday.

I guess the suspension will settle a bit more over the next few days and so will drop a little bit more. The car looks much better and doesn't look like it's sticking it's bum up any more!

So far so good on the ride quality, I've not driven the car yet as I'm still in a cast but I was passenger on the way back from Burton and it felt fine to me.

Excuse that the car's not clean but it's undergoing a full detail this weekend so I'm saving all my energy

Comments/opinions?

tons better ben , you must be pleased.

Yes mate, it looks so much better. Can't wait to drive it... we replaced the DV while I was there and found (as suspected) that the original one was split. It bloody goes now!!

Looks great!

I do like 'em in black but SWMBO talked me out of it - probably because of my lack of enthusiasm for cleaning 'em. If you think yours is dirty you should see mine at the moment!

Did you change just the springs or go the usual FSD route and change the shocks as well?

Either way it looks great! Will be interested in hearing how you rate the ride when they settle.

  • Author

Just the springs on standard vRS shocks. I know FSDs is the usual route but if I do change for a more comprehensive setup then it'll be coilovers so I thought I'd just try the springs first.

I'll be able to report after Le Mans, 1500 miles should be anough to get an opinion on them :)

Looks awsome that. Loads better.

Very nice Ben

Any chance of a side on shot please (before and after if poss)

Cheers

Damian

Very nice. Vast improvement. How it should have looked from the factory. Just hope the OEM shocks can cope with the Eibachs...

Skoda offered the Eibach kit as an official accessory and could be ordered for pre-delivery fitment, so I don't see why they wouldn't cope which is why I decided to give it a go.

  • Author

damo I'm not sure I have a side-on shot before, let me have a look around and I'll see what I can find.

Damo this is the best I can find:

Nice Pussy and very nice wheels.;)

Looks great :)..how much extra did the lowering cost you in insurance?

  • Author

Nothing, but I am with a mod-friendly insurer. Brake modifications are also FOC, which is good because that's the next line of attack!

Paying extra for things to make you go slower eh - now there's a novelty :D

Nice improvement

What did you pay including fitting?

And what revision DV did you fit?

Steve

how much did the springs lower the car shark90? I d love to know how much mineis lowered for certain.I have about 5-10mm clearance above the wheels. I could do with a std vRS to park up against to compare.

Also what revision DV have you put it on, is it the new G revision, if so could you please share the part number, As i think mine might well have gone. So going to change it anyway.

The DV I fitted is 06H 145 710 D, the new piston type one. I've not driven the car myself as I'm still off the road, but it was much quicker from the passenger seat as my old diaphragm valve had torn.

Wardy - They were fitted for £120 and I need to get the alignment checked which will be another £50 or so. Ben (at AVP) was quite happy to nip it down to get it aligned up but another mate of ours turned up so we ended up chatting until the cows came home.

Simon - They're -20mm springs but of course they may drop it a little bit more. It certainly looks better and I guess over the next few hundred miles they'll settle and perhaps sink a little.

looks soo much better now matey :)

I take it that was £120 just for fitting, in addition to the purchase of the springs? :)

Steve - yes £140 or so for the springs and £120 for fitting and I still need to get the alignment done. Skoda wanted nearly £300 to fit them including the alignment.
