Vrs problems, re cooling/heating

Featured Replies

Hi there

My VRS is having problems,

a while ago i had the air con re gassed at quickfit, worked ok for a while, however now it stopped getting cold - what i have noticed now though is that no matter where the hot/cold dial is the air seems to make its own mind up wether its hot or cold.

Put it into hot and after 5 mins will get hot, put back to cold and it will get hot before going cold again - sometimes up to 10 mins later.

anybody any ideas?

thanks in advance

:)

sorry about that - i initially tried searching, but struggled to search the right thing.

I got another issue now, i dont know wether im being ripped off or not??

My local garage have the car atm, apparantly a pin has broken inside the gearbox, (cant select 1st or 2nd) they quoted me 300 to repair, as it will take them 4 hours to get out and repair and then more time to put back in. Also they advise me to have a new cluch fitted as i wont have to pay extra labour -

bringing the bill to 400.

Does this sound right?

Thanks again

:rubchin: Don't really know, having had neither of those jobs done. If it does genuinely need the work, then any opportunity to save on labour has got to be worth it, however I don't know what the mileage / state of tune is on the car to say whether I's expect the clutch to actually be worn... Also, if it's only a repair, rather than a replacement, GBP300 seems a bit steep for 4 hours' work. I had my brakes upgraded yesterday, paying just for labour and miscellaneous bits but providing the major parts myself, and that took 3 hours and didn't cost me anything like as much. Admittedly, it was at a specialist garage not a dealer, but it's not a cheap place by any means...

Doesn't sound too bad a price to me - £400 to strip the gearbox down, fit new clutch etc. I don't think you'll get it done much cheaper elsewhere. Just keep tabs on the final bill when you come to pick up the car and make sure they don't start adding other costs without prior consultation...
