random electric fault

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a 95 skoda fav, and last night noticed it had abit of a random fault, dashbord lights for the rev counter, speedo, side lights and fogs has stoped working, so has one side light, both front fogs, and the horn have checked bulbs, wireing looks fine, and as far as i can tell the fuses look okay......if anyone can help or has any ideas would be very good :)

Thanks, Jay

Did you physically pull the fuses out mate and check them?

just finished doing that again and its all working :D but no horn :(

thanks

You havent got the horn?

Maybe you're on the wrong websites.....

I mean check the fuse or could be that the connector has come off the horn maybe?

Try wiggling the appropriate fuses a little and banging the fusebox. If it does cure it, probably won't cure it forever, but would be the handshake to get it working. I think if that works the permanent cure would be a new fusebox.

If it's just the horn now when was the last time the horn worked? Could be the switch.

lights all sorted with hitting the fuse box, but its horn + winscreen washers that are out now :( does anyone know what fuse that could be ?

Horn fuse is shared with brake lights, hazard warning lights, interior light, clock, and cigar lighter on fuse 9 which should be 15a. Washer jets are shared with wipers and reversing lights on fuse 5 which should be 15a. This applies to Mk2 Favorit.

thats worrying then, as all the other things on those fuses are fine, may sound odd but all this started....after washing the car :S

I had a problem on mine with a cracked solder joint on the circuit board carrying the fuses and relays. It's a bit tedious to take out but not too hard. Just reflow all the joints and see if it helps. If you don't know how to 'reflow a joint', take the board to anyone who has ever worked with electronic components!

Horn and windscreen washer pump are both well forward though. Could anything have happened to the loom going forward? May be worth a look under the bonnet.

On the other hand both are switched from the column so something could be unplugged or damaged there.
