Battery light followed by all warning lights engine then stops

Featured Replies

Hi I have a W Reg 2000 Skoda Fabia 1.4, Battery light comes on for a few minutes followed by the power steering light (power steering stops working) ABS light brake light and engine mangement light EPC light, rev counter and speedo stop working and then after a few more minutes the engine dies and will not restart until car jumped or battery charged, all this has also happened without battery light coming on, if I jump strat problems start happening again straight away if battery charged works for longer, I have just had brake peddle switch replaced failed MOT due to no stop lights, I have read lots of horror stories regarding electric problems, hoping might be the battery or alternator, please can anyone help, thanks Rob

Sounds like a failed battery to me, definitely the first port of call. Welcome to the forum.

yes battery failed or battery not charging, on mine this was caused by wires in the fusebox melting.

run an altmeter on the battery whilst running, sounds to me like either the altenator is going (not charging or only slightly charging) or battery (not holding charge).

Another vote for duff battery.

I'd say alternator not charging due to a faulty wiring connection for the DF blue wire from the alternator where it connects at the plug on the front of the gearbox.

Hello all..I'm new but share a common problem in that my battery does not hold charge on my skoda fabia 1.4 .was driving along when the battery light came on and alarm sounded and my abs ...p/steering ...and the rest all flickering .stopped car but battery dead. This is a brand new battery as I thought the other battery was a duff .there seems to be a drain on battery somewhere but how do I locate the problem ?charged battery up but now battery light stays on ?any help out there ?many thanks
