Power fault somewhere

Featured Replies

Don't know if it's related, i fitted an MFD3 last week. I noticed today that when i turn the car off and put the key right back the unit switches off whereas before it switched off when the key was taken out. Also i noticed the interior light doesn't come on either when the key is taken out. Any ideas? Or is it as simple as a fuse?

I suspect one of the 12v feeds to the headunit has indeed got a blown fuse. When looking at the fusebox diagram, dont forget its for a LHD car so everything is a mirror image.

It must be the ignition switch. The probem is now intermittent and if you wiggle the key back and forth i can get it to stay on until i remove the key and sometimes the interior light will come on before i remove the key.

Any fault codes Micky?

Any fault codes Micky?

I don't know, haven't scanned it since this started to happen. A friend has vcds and will connect it tonight and see, would an igntion switch fault register a code? I'm pretty sure it's the ignition switch as it seems like a bad connection when you turn the key back and forth.

It's still under warranty and was told to wheel her in. So much for my total reliabilty thread:O:rolleyes::D

Scanned the car this evening. The funny thing is i get a ignition switch fault in the steering module.

Interesting. Brought the car to the dealer today to book her in. They claim the reason why my ignition switch has gone faulty is because i have to many keys on my keyring and is too heavy and over time will damage the ignition switch.

Ahh well at least you know what it is now.
