New Down Pipe Fitted

Featured Replies

Hi

Had my APR Turbo Down pipe from Awesome fitted today (awesome didnt fit it), it sounds great on idle, but when I open it up it sounds overly loud (not blowing) and it also feels like I can feel a slight vibration through the floor...will this bed in? have any of you fitted these? its connected to a Blue flame cat back system, i took it back to the place and we checked it wasnt blowing and everything was ok. Theres also loads of clearence between it and the car its slef so I dont think its rubbing anywhere.

Im not sure if they re-used the gasket off the turbo tho...could that cause a problem? like i say it sounds good untill i boot it, it still sounds niceits just this sort of vibration noise i can hear through the floor.

Thanks (sorry its a ramble)

Matt

Have you got a poly engine dogbone mount fitted?

I had a sports cat fitted & that caught when when the engine rocked on acceleration untill I fitted the dogbone mount.

Hi, no i havent, where do i get one from? and is it expensive to fit? Its when i turn right and pull off i can feel a vibration through the floor and also the steering wheel.

Been driving the car tonight and its driving me mad

The new pipe had to be cut by 2 inches when fitted, im sure its not catching on anything on idle when i was under it , so hopefully the mounts will help, excuse my ignorance, but where are they fitted? and is it common?

Did yours do it when turning right?

Thanks for the reply

I'm guessing it just needs a little adjusting as it may be catching if it's not central or around the rear axle.Take it back to where it was fitted and let them sort it out.

When i fitted mine i put a new turbo/exhaust downpipe gasket on cost was around £2.

Could an old gasket cause issues? im not sure if he put the old one in...did see some silicone knocking around....hmmm

Its like a creaking noise....niticed a difference in power tho :) turbo pulls harder and longer :)

The noise is defo from the front...iv checked the clearance on the back and its fine....did u fit the bushes?

Difficult to tell without hearing.

I had powerflex dogbone mount fitted before i fitted exhaust.

Did the powerflex make much noise when fitted at first? If i get some in the morning and wizz it to a garae i assume they will know what to do with them?.

Just driven it again, it just concerns me i an feel it through the wheel when pulling off and turning right.

Im wondering if it needs some more taking off the length as it did at first which improved it as it vibrated constantly. Maybe theres too much pressure on it ...hmmmm

Mine did It when I was just accelerating.

As for the dogmount, Its a mount under the rear of the lower engine. Its about £15.13 inc vat from Awesome. I'm not saying It will cure the problem as It may be an alignment issue with the downpipe, but It will definitly help & for the price Its definitly one of the best mods I've done & you will do on the car as It will stop the wheel hop when you accelerate hard & allow better transfer of the power to the wheels:thumbup:

Hi

Thanks for the help, its going to Awesome at 2 tommorow and they are going to fit new mounts and have a look at what might be rattling..would you reccomend just getting one side of the mounts done to keep the vibration down?the car has done 30k on a 53 plate.

Cheers

Have both parts fitted as it will calm down.

How long does it take to calm? They will be powerflex bushes....really dont want any extra vibration for along time...

Hi Matt

Yes your booked in with us

I would say , the same as these guys have said

Dog mount bush.......could help and slight adjustment

That should cure it for you

Will check it over for you

Petrols dont take that much to bed in , diesels do tend to have more issues as it can vibrate quite a bit
