DAB Retrofit Idea

Featured Replies

I want DAB radio in my car, however want to keep the original headunit.... This doesn't seem to be possible as no where does addon units for the original head unit...

So it got me thinking... open up a personal DAB and modify the wiring so it would work with the original symphony headunit.

DAB unit I was thinking of:

Clarity Vision DAB Cube

I think if I can rewire the display and buttons... I should be able to fit it here...

PROBLEMS ARE:-

- Connect headphone to AUX on symphony

- Use Blaupunkt DAB (externally roof mounted DAB/FM) antenna... rewired to connect to DAB unit

- Providing a 5v power source to the DAB unit when radio is switched on

Do I need anything special for connecting the unit to AUX on my symphony unit?

There are used and refurbished Revo units available that work with the existing head unit.

I know this doesn't relate to your post, but please allow me to say:

"Wholly feck, you've got an EMPEG!"

That picture of the car isn't my car... It's just a random one from the internet!

I've managed to get a bluetooth 3.5" jack, and I'll order that personal DAB radio...

Already have the blaupunkt fm/dab antenna, and it's and easy fit anyway... I'll probabily solder the connections onto the PCB.

I'll let you know how this goes once I have tried to install all the bits!
