Ive noticed alot of people on here have Tuning Boxes? I would assume like superchips bluefin style, D.I.Y Etc...

One of things thats also worth considring is if the car has any upgrades exhuast, filter, intake blah blah, is it worth getting these done first before having some form of ecu play around.

Now am pretty sure people will rate the remap done by a garage by a man! So am intrested to know if anyone has used any of the d.i.y mods with good results, ive heard the superchips bluefin is quiet a nice bit of kit. The other thing thats slightly off putting is jabba is nearly 2hours away only 1 way, i do like driving but even with a satnav am not a big fan of long journeys were i dont know were i am. Why dont you choose another tuner then? I hear you cry, from what people say i wouldnt let anyone else near my car

Steinbauer are one of the originals and it's a good product. Thing is with boxes is although the results are not as good as a remap generally they don't make any changes to the turbo only boost which is a big thing if your after long term reliability. It's also removeable

However... If you want the best of both worlds....look into a Bluefin if they do it for the 1.4

I had a ebay resistor box mod on my Octavia II 1.9PD, I would say it provides more of a performance boost than some people beleive, it made my car feel much more responsive than standard and acceleration at 80MPH onwards was deffo alot quicker

Certainly didnt give the extra 1 billion horsepower that they will tell you it does though, I would guestimate it gave me an extra 10 horses at most, definatley noticable though. Caused Engine management light to come on every feq thousand miles warning of fuel temp sender values (Which is what it fiddles with)

Overall I'd save for a remap, but it's a quick performance boost while you are saving for one

sadly they dont do a fin for a 1.4 :(
