Irritating rattle on octy vrs dash

Featured Replies

Anyone else got any annoying rattles? Seems to be coming from centre of dashboard behind air vents. Sounds like an irate mosquito and I'm forever moving things like sunglasses etc to see if it's them. Turned off air con to see if that stops it but no. It rattles most of the time but i bet if i took it to dealer, it wouldn't do it. Seems no easy way to get in there for a look. Only thing to do is turn up the music. Any ideas anyone?

I had a rattle in the same place on my Fabia, after about 18 months. The dealer knew what it was right away, without even listening to it. I think it was a fixing to the bulkhead. It involved taking the dashboard out. They left another rattle after they finished, but I sorted that myself.

Could allways drill a small hole and fill the dash full of gap filler

Fabia rattle is a know problem....behind centre air vent the bracket joining dash to bulkhead becomes loose.

As for Octy....no rattles on mine and I'm running 18'' alloys and KW3 suspension. If I do have a rattle is usually something in the glove box.

Oh...I tell a lie....the courtsey light cable in the headlining rattles/buzzes when it's cold....another known issue.

Is there a history of these (Fabia) rattles returning again?

Mine has an intermittent rattle like that. It comes from the bottom left corner of the plastic screen in front of the instrument cluster. Pressing gently a few times makes it go away.

Now if only I could find a way to stop the button on the handbrake lever rattling i would be happy

I have a rattle that seems to come from the same place as you. Every time I went down in a bump or rut it would sound like something jiggling near the air vents.

The dealer had replaced the air vents at one point so I thought it was a loose clip or something.

Would you believe I tracked it down to a rattle inside the Symphony CD head unit? Something is rattling in there! When I took out the head unit it knocked against something and I heard that very familiar rattle.

I haven't fixed it. Maybe one day if I am enterprising I will open up the head unit and see if I can find what is loose.
