seat subframes

Featured Replies

Ive got a set of nice bucket seats to go in my fun as the oem ones leather is heavily worn and look rubbish. Wheres the best place to get some subframes for the felicia? Cheap is good. :)

Not too fussed about the lift up req. to get in the back as i rarely open it up.

Im not a car man so not sure where to look to be honest.

Do you know who made the buckets? They'll probably make subframes to suit if anyone does.

ah unfortunately not, they dont have any names on them at all. They are just some universal jobbies i picked up cheap secondhand off ebay.

How fixed are you prepared to go when they're in? Some of the race and rally suppliers do fixed brackets (no fore and aft movement).

id rather i would be able to slide them back and forth. Ive seen these universal jobbies for about £35 each which isnt too bad. But I was wondering if someone had done it already if the floorpan is flat or does it have a funny shape that will prevent ease of mounting.

Would ideally like to be able to move the seat up and down as well but i cant see that being available???

Looking at this diagram below, if the bottom of the bucket seats is flat and there is ample room for fixings to be screwed in, I think what you need to do is find some Favorit front seats (they are supposed to be interchangeable with the Felicia ones).

Here's the felicia seats, the runners bolt to the seat from the side.

The seat runners on a Favorit go straight from the bottom so would be ideal if the bucket seats are flat on the bottom.

I've seen race buckets that should (subject to base width and distance between front and rear mounts being right) pick up on the Favorit subframes, based on that drawing.

ahhh cool thanks very much for that :)

Ill have to pop down the local scrappy and have a look around. I think i might be in the market for a new 1.6 engine as well. Its migrated from a 4 stroke to a 2 stroke i think.

Its seems to be running an autolube system at 30:1 ratio haha!

I've dug out my spare pair of fav seat runners.

Measurements seat fixing holes front to rear both sides 324mm (there's probably nothing stopping you drilling new holes along the main body of the runner). Left side to right hand side is around 445mm distance for the wire to adequately free off the teeth on the other side to allow the seat to slide.

The main problem I can see is that the mechanism which allows the seat to slide back and forth protrudes on the surface the seat fixes onto. One way around this would be to use something to space it out that is 4cm thick (not sure if wood would be safe or not but would certainly be the easiest to work with).

I guess it's possible it may be easier to fix the bucket seats to the bottom of the seat that fixes onto these runners. Unfortunately mine was broken so I threw it.

cm not mm

You'd need a catalogue, and more specs than I have to make your own, or adaptors, but fixed competition seat mounts are basically lumps of fairly thick aluminium or steel plate, bent to an "l" shape, shaped on top, and drilled. Typical price seems to be £25 to £60 a pair (steel is cheaper than alloy).

Steels the way to go I feel as the quality of alloy on some of these universal adaptors i have seen is a bit crap. They are quite often simple cast peices that dont retain the strength i would want in them.

I have seen these universal sliding ones for £35 a pop in steel and the floorpan doesnt look terribly complicated. Ill buy one of those for a start and do the passenger seat first.

Ill post some pics as i do it as im sure others might be interested in this information in the future.

The catalogue illustrations (I used DT, basically because they give me a catalogue with Autosprout every Jan) suggest the mounts (people like Corbeau, Recaro and Sparco) are bent from heavy plate. What I'm saying is that I don't have sufficient info to know how "heavy" heavy is in this case. I agree with you about the concept of using (or not) castings!

Oh balls!!!

I've just realised after Anewman showed the runners that the Felly seats might have gone into my Fav. Oh well.

Only difference is that the Felly seats have the seat belt buckle as part of the seat.
