From the driver's door window when I was trying to close it. Also, I had to help it up with my hand.Can anyone confirm that this is probably early signs of a regulator failure?

Glass carrier will be starting to break up. A plastic clamp falls apart and then the window falls into the door. About £90 for the bits at dealers.

Thanks; I thought as much, but never having had it happen before I wanted a second opinion before going near a garage.

Yep definitely the regulator - it'll be the white plastic runner that has broken and the wires will now be liberally wrapped around the drum etc inside the door.

Easiest solution is a new inner door skin/regulator from a dealer as above or a second hand one from a scrappers (I paid about £30 for a Fabia one) and a couple of hours to fit it.

Coming in to work this morning there was also a faint rattle from that door that wasn't there yesterday; I'm now convinced that I got this right and it's new regulator time.
