Help Urgent Brake Problem.

Featured Replies

Very strange thing happened driving home! I'm meant to be heading away tomorrow but won't be if this problem persists.

The Car is a 1.8t Vrs

Driving along and hit the brakes as normal, The abs comes on and traction acting up but i'm not braking hard or even going round a bend. So for the last few miles home everytime I hit the brakes above say 30mph the abs is coming on. Than the abs and traction warning lights come on so I pull in. Turn off the car for a minute and start up again. The lights go off and off I go the last 2 miles from home but the abs is still coming on alot and for no reason. Can anyone shine a light on this!

I'm going out in a while to remove front wheels and have a poke!

I'm imagining its the sensors on the discs which sense wheel speeds i think!

If I need a new sensor or two are they easy to change?

Thanks all

Fugs!

I'm pretty sure it's either the wheel speed sensors, or a mucky or broken sensor ring. Best thing to do is get the fault codes read to point you at the correct wheel.

Ok I'll call to my local mechanic and get the codes!

Right sorted! I believe that sensor is a type of transducer and is so very sensitive. I had a little look in and noticed the lead had come loose from the 3 push on brackets. I simply cliped it back on and its fine and dandy again! Thanks Ken!

I didn't really do anything! Not used to the cabling coming unmoored either!

I only fitted new springs last week so I must not have popped these back properly.

I'm thanking you for the simple fact of making an effort on behalf of a stranger in need of help!! A rare thing in the normal, anti-internet world!
