Steering wheel

Featured Replies

Is it an easy job to retro fit a multifunction steering wheel ?,If I get the steering wheel, radio controls and steering wheel wires is it just a case of removing my old wheel and replacing or do I have to re wire from the steering column to the stereo ?.car in question is my new pride and joy 2006 Octavia Ambiente 1.9 TDI and the stereo system is the Audience with the 6 disc changer built in and stereo system....Also regarding the parking sensors,is it possible again to retro fit original items but upon reversing I want the display to be shown on the stereo as on original equipment.skoda do parking sensors but do not know if they work with the stereo or not.

It has been done (think it was Tallion who is a russian on this forum) but it was a bit of a job iirc and don't try it unless you have VCDS or access to it as it needs to be re-coded

EDIT: just found the thread - See here and this will give you all the info you need Multi Function Steering Wheel Retro-Fit

I'm pretty sure it can. Might be some issues depending on the steering controller. When I added a MFSW to my old Ambiente, the VCDS said it had enabled it, but when you went back it said it was disabled again. Had to change the controller, and it worked a treat. (Courtesy VRSstu). I only wish I could do the same with my VRS LE. Maybe one day they'll release the wheel without the paddles :rotz:
