'Selfish' Detail..........

Featured Replies

Ok then, so with the weather being so poor yesterday's planned detail was put on hold and I didn't have much confidence in today's weather either................:thumbdwn:

It rained pretty heavy this morning but the sun came out around lunchtime on the farm so I decided to give the car a quick detail and take some 'arty' shots...............:P

Process was a follows:

Wheel cleaned with Megs Wheel Brightner, EZ Wheel Brush, Detailer Brush;

Wheels and Car rinsed;

Sonus Insect Remover applied to front end of the car;

Bodywork washed using the 2BM - Eurow Lambswool Mitts and CG Maxi Suds;

Car rinsed;

Megs Last Touch applied all over the car;

Car dried with a Waffle Weave Drying Towel;

Door Shuts and boot shut cleaned with Megs APC;

Door Shuts and boot shut dressed with Megs Last Touch;

Bodywork then had Zaino Z6applied;

Bodywork then had Zaino Z8 applied;

Megs Hot Shine Tyre Dressing applied to tyres and all external black trim

Still running on the winter wheels at the moment but just had some new rubber put onto the 19's yesterday so will get them on next weekend before DC09:

The 'badges' aren't badges I am afraid mate, they are LED Side Marker's, they were on the car when I bought it and I have since changed them to Smoked one's to match the rest of the car, might not look too clever but at night they look pretty good IMHO...........:P

The number plates were from Dubmeister and I have run them for a long time now...........:thumbup:

Top tip, always carry some 'baby wipes' in your car, that way you will never get and 'etching' marks............:thumbup:

Thanks George, granted the 19's make the car but I do think that the Solid's are a pretty good 17" OEM wheel and the ride height gives it some presence on the road.........:thumbup:

Looking good there Baker :thumbup:

Giving me more and more confidence for the 8th of Aug :P

Any idea how those LED Side markers are wired up. Do they come on with the lights? Might be good idea for night time driving. Make more visible especially when pulling out of Junctions were traffic cant see indicators

Thanks Carl..............:thumbup:

Ofcourse mate, I have fitted many of these sets as I used to sell them when I worked for Hella, quite simply they are just wired into the side lights on the head lamps and rear lamps........:thumbup:

That's their market, nice and safe when pulling out of junctions and reversing out of awkward places, and legally they illuminated orange..........:thumbup:

Is there any other colours allowed (i know blue isn't) or do they have to be orange?

Also any idea were i might get some from and how much

Cheers

I am afraid that the lamps only come in amber as that is the legal colour for sidemarkers, they are available with a smoked, chromed or amber bezel and can be sourced via me..........:D

BOS and Z10? Someone has some money to burn.............:eek:

Tidy :)

All in good time, so now it's all about the 17's.............:thumbup:

As I suspected, looks spanking mate, top job. :thumbup:

Looking good SImon....nice job mate. The side markers must look nice on a evening when used - else i'd have thought you'd ditch them. Any pics?

Not tempted for a rear boot spoiler at all? Car looks nice though and looking forward to the 19's being back under the arches too!

Cheers,

Ste.

I LIke the OEM wheels better than the 19"s it just looks so much cleaner/euro and in my eyes a lot more slammed

How did it look after going out the drive? :D

I was looking at yours last week and the lack of stone chips on the front is quite amazing. My front bumper is pebble dashed by comparrison:O

Looking stunning as ever I must say Simon.

I love the look on the Solids too.

Top effort yet again and i bet even more so with it being your own pride and joy...

and a not so good colour am presuming to show off results, but you always seem too :thumbup: and i cant wait to see it again on the 19's looks spot on IMHO

Pics of them in the evening, hmmm......I will see what I can do mate..........:thumbup:

Nah, less is more mate and boot spoiler's make the rear end look fussy IMHO, been there and done that on the Bora and I just don't think they suit the Superb.............:P

The car does ride lower on the 17's for sure and even lower on the 18's I had with crazy profile tyres, just hoping this new rubber on the 19's looks OK as currently I am not convinced..........:thumbdwn:

Maybe a little dusty? :rofl:

It has plenty there mate for 160k, I guess they are just well waxed over..........:P

I would like to think that ever car I complete gets the same amount of effort but maybe a little more on this one, maybe I am harder on this one...........

Beige is like white or silver, it's tough to get some depth to it, especially with the sun not playing ball but to the touch it's very smooth...........:P

19's will be on this Friday / Saturday.........:thumbup:
