Spoiler - Aerial Protection Film ?

Featured Replies

i need to get my spoiler resprayed on my vRS, and in the middle where the aerial touches when you lift up the tailgate, there is some protective film to stop it marking the paintrang my local TPS and they said its not even shown on the imageanyone any ideas ?.......is it OE fit or has the previous owner added it ?

OE fit.

OEM

Any generic clear vinyl would do the same job.

Try a sign maker for an off-cut

The finish on my spoiler's gone all misty too (that's your problem also, right?) I was hoping it was just some polish and elbow grease that was required... :(

And yes, there's a bit of plastic in the little notch on mine as well!

well it was slightly yellowy so i decided to polish it, by hand, and some white spots appeared, a couple of days later and ive got a 50p sized area on the spoiler which now has water under the lacquer !

anyone any idea of the part number for this film, would prefer to buy the correct part ready cut

Clear laminx!

only a 50p sized hole , PAH , mine is now almost totally devoid of lacquer , and that vinyl strip you want :(

How about fitting a shorter aerial, they won't rub on your spoiler.

How short though?

An S2000 aerial still makes contact, Any shorter and you'll lose reception

well you cant buy that piece of film on its own !

tried Skoda in Liverpool aswell, and he even rang Skoda up for me to check, only comes with the spoiler

LaminX its gonna have to be

I guess it's trial & error mate, there must be one out there that is short enough. From what I have found so far there are only 2 thread sizes used on aerial mountings.

I have seen a photo, on Briskoda,of a very short one from a VW Sharan but I don't recall seeing an aerial on a Sharan as they have Ford type integral window aerials.

FM reception is always good even without the aerial but AM is severely reduced.

How long is the paint warrenty on these, must still be covered surely?

I have the optional Skoda Sport spoiler (thank you eBay) on mine, just like the vRS one but without the wee notch in it...so I have an old microfibre cloth in the boot to be sticking between the spoiler and the S2000 aerial when I open the boot.

Pain in the ar$e though...tempted to remove the aerial mast and put some kind of removable plug in it since I always have the iPod on anyway. Might help my aerodynamics too

If I remember correctly I think there's some sort of bodywork warranty of 10 years, but only for corrosion? Not too sure.

Paint will be 3 years from date of registration

Corrosion 10 years,

This covers corrosion from the inside out.
