Disconnecting EGR benefits?

Featured Replies

is it worth doin? what kind of benifits will i get? any down sides?

The main benefit is, exhaust soot is not going to clog up the vanes on the turbo, as you probably know turbo vanes are variable pitch and with the soot be forced onto them tends to stick to the variable vane mechanism. The soot also fills up the manifolds and reduces combustion capacity. downside is more pollutants being released into the atmosphere which doesn't bother us as these are not tested in the MOT. I your're a Green Party member don't do it.

However this can only be sorted by deleting the EGR with a suitable kit and you will get an engine management light if the car is not remapped to suit.

Elephants trunk mod and a good clean?

Only downside for me was the pi$$in about to remove the bloody thing

Been running mine for 6months or so and had no issues

Elephants trunk Mod? What on earth is that?

Disconnecting the PCV breather hose and venting it into a catch can, and blanking off the inlet manifold connection for the PCV hose. Prevents oily gunge clogging the EGR and Inlet/Turbo.

No catch can on mine, just throw it all out the back of the exhaust, excess weight and all that.
