Bulb upgrade and Boot Liner

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy new bulbs, I have read lots of other threads and I'm still unsure. I was thinking the H7 Philips X-treme Power +80% but also the H4's sound good and 7 quid cheaper :)

Does anyone know the difference? They seem to have the same write up.

Was just looking to replace the low beam and I would get free sidelights anyway.

Worth replacing anything else?

Also.......

I travel to The Lakes a lot, previous in my old Golf GTi which was showing its age I use to put the lawn mower on the back seats because the boot was full of Bass. This time around I would like to buy a boot liner, Halfords have cheap ones from 9.99 upwards but found this:

Skoda Boot Liner Octavia 5 Door Hatchback 1998 Onwards on eBay, also, Alfa Romeo, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 13-Jun-09 18:00:00 BST)

Anyone bought from this website before? Any success? Maybe people know of another supplier?

Thanks in advance

The H7 and H4 refer to the bulb sizes, so H4 may be cheaper but probably won't fit if you have an Octy 2. For low beam you'd need H7.

The Philips range is really good - my last car I had X-treme Power ones good. You would most happy with the Philips bluevision sidelights however! I've put those in my Skoda and gone is the dull yellow and nice white crisp light that's brighter too!

Osram Nightbreakers are good - replace the sidelights with LED versions - job done!

Have you considered a HID Xenon upgrade. From ebay you can get a good UK sourced kit for less that £70. They are 'plug n play', an absolute doddle to fit (on a Octy II) and with 4300k bulbs, the light output is fantastic and the colour spot on.

Some debate about MOT issues, but I've had the same kit on a Mazda 6, and my wifes Renault Modus with no problems. Just be aware of where the light cutoff is and manually adjust the height to avoid annoying anyone (I usually run at number 1 in towns and single lane main roads, and then 0 on motorways etc).

The HID bulbs last over 3 times as long as conventional bulbs so by the time you've replaced high output bulds several times, you've paid for the HIDs.
