New to Briskoda (& Skoda)

Featured Replies

Hi there fellow Briskodians...

I'm a first time Skoda owner and quite new to this site although i have been lurking and gathering bits of useful info as I go from this fine site ;). I'm quite the novice at Modding but as predicted by most who know me I am getting too used to the newly found power (Torque) of the oil-burner since comeing from a 130 Bhp petrol Focus. Ok, long-winded intro out of the way im wondering if some of you could iron a few head scratchers for me . First off, is there any reason that none of my local auto parts shops can find a part number for the Inlet Manifold Gasket for my 2.0Tdi (140) or can the 1.9Tdi gasket be used.. Or should I be looking for the Mk5 Golf part number ?

Secondly I've read that the 170Bhp 2.0tdi is excactly the same engine as the 140 so where does the extra power come from ??? Surely it can't just be a mapping issue can it, or is it Turbo related or more .

Just on reading this back i've relised that for my First post it sounds a bit nagative, let me correct that by saying that my new car is by far the best car I have ever driven (in my price range) and have not one single regret over the purchase of my new "Baby"..

P.S Soz for any Typo's...

The PD 170 uses a different turbo and piezo injectors - so quite different to the PD140. The CR170 is a completely different design going from pumpe duse to common rail.

The gaskets will be specific to the engine, the Mk5 Golf part will be the same.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Tom that is a great help M8.. Gives me a bit to read up on ...I presume one can't be done without the other.. i.e injectors without turbo or vice-verse not to mention the cost which I imagine would be astronomical ? Not to say i'm not happy with the Torque produced by her but like I say it gets a little less exciting each time I drive it :o. Comfort is second to none, on our semi-tarmac, pot-holed riddled dirt tracks we know as roads so not too sure I wanna go for the firmer suspension altough body role seems to be a huge factor when sticking it into corners..(sometimes feels like i'm gonna fall out LoL). Does anyone think the VRS suspension may give me the best of both worlds or is it as bone jarring as most lowered sports suspension ?? I Think the Superchips Re-map will be first on the agender but I really wanted to start with a decat which also does not seem to exist for my model  again would the 2.0tdi Golf decat fit mine ?

Cheers for any input !!!

I went from an Elegance on 16"s to a VRS on 18"s. I don't think the standard suspension (as found on the Classic, Ambiente, Elegance, L&K) is very refined. I actually find the VRS suspension is a much better all round setup. It's firmer, but at the same time I also think it's more comfortable on rougher roads than the non-VRS setup. The best comfort orientated suspension setup I've experienced is on the Rover 75.

What you really want is a set of Koni FSDs. Plenty of people on here with them. Usually combined with Koni springs.
