Diesel tuning chip

Featured Replies

Found this on e-bay,does it really offer this much performance as 35 bhp and 70Nm of torque increase as for just £21.50 look like a bargain.Does it really work ?.

Must say, it does sound too good to be true - note no independent tests quoted. But a small-change purchase if it works at all - provided it doesn't foul up the engine or the electronic systems. Who'll be the first guinea-pig?

it is only give false info about combustion to you MAF sensor...so it is not realy tuning....only "cheat" your ECU

You make your engine think it's always cold and so it over fuels.

Make a judgement, but if you want to go that way, then it's generally a single resistor anyway so can be done for pence. Google would be your friend.

Got one on my octavia 130pd. It was on when I got it and I've owned car 16 month.

Tried car without it and the difference is amazing for a 30 quid chip.

The only problem is the trip meter says you're getting about 20% more to the gallon than you actually are.

Personally i'd stay well clear... Pickleing your ECU into false economy can surely never be a good thing, but this is Only my humble opinion, let us know if you "brave" it M8..As the age old saying goes "You only get what you pay for" springs to mind !!!! Maybe only twenty-something quid in the short-term but my guess is that it would cost you alot more in the long term.:rotz:

Do a search for E-bay (or flea-bay) resistor mod.

£21 for a plastic box with a resistor inside it is not cheap.

Only 2 pins on the connector so definitely a resistor job that cons your ECU into overfuelling the engine.

The problem with this type of mod is that the effect is there all the time so it overfuels even when the throttle is barely open and there is no boost.

Therefore we get:

Overfueling => very dirty combustion due to not enough O2 at low RPM

=> more soot produced => clogged VNT vanes on the turbo in 2 - 3 years time

=> Expensive turbo replacement down the line
