Rain and the driver's door mirror.

Featured Replies

The other day I was driving in fairly heavy rain at about 60mph and above and was totally unable to see anything in the driver's door mirror due to the stream of water being swept off the windscreen and running along the door window, just at the height of the mirror, plus the water actually on the mirror.

I assume others have suffered from this. Has anyone thought up a fix? I assume its a question of air flow that needs to be interrupted or diverted.

I find being unable to use the door mirror very disconcerting, to say the least.

i posted a message regarding the same problem a while ago. and someone said about some stuff you put on your windows to repel rain! used it ever since and its great stuff! go have a look at halfords

Aquapel or Rain-x :)

Open the window?

*giggles evily*

wind deflectors would encourage the water along the roof line

This issue afflicts most modern cars ;)

"Affects most modern cars"???? It has never affected any previous cars I have owned as badly as this, and that includes a Mk 1 Fabia, Octavia and a BMW 320.

Thanks Stevehowes, your suggestion will get the consideration it deserves.

I did ask about the usefullness of wind deflectors on this forum several months ago and got no usefull responses whatsoever, although I got a few stupid ones,as I have come to expect on this forum.

I will give Rain-X a go first-thanks for that suggestion.

We've put wind deflectors on ours.

Didn't really help. Driving it in heavy rain the other day, the dtram of water just seemed to be more intense and about an inch further up the window (now right in line with the top half of the mirror). Kept having to duck to see anything in the mirror!

Octavia 2, Mondeo Mk 3 & 4, many van makes I've driven suffer it. Blame the crash and aero compramises now needed to get a good NCAP rating
