no i didnt , just didnt know it was relevant.

really useless with cameras , some of the pics are greenish .

just reset it and hoping for the best , or somebody local to look at it .:D

have a sony dss w150 which is really good, not sure on this olympus .

The E500 is supposed to be a really good camera.

Is it a new one - or have you bought it recently from some one ?

I would suggest (initially, until you learn more) you let someone knowlegeable look at it - especially if you're used to point and shoot as the options and the manual will be bewildering.

I had a little play and came up with this.....

SSOOORRREEEeeeee - Couldn't resist.

Anyroadup, I have had a quick edit in photoshop to get the colour balance more normal. The contrast range of the original is a bit compressed, so there is not a great deal more I could 'pull' out of it.

Apart from someone local to help you out I suggest you do some serious reading up.

Steep learning curve so best to read a bit each night (10 minutes worth or so). Little by little it will sink in (esp as your brain will let it soak in overnight).

apparenty , its the white balance i keep getting wrong .

I did wonder whether to mention it - or whether it'd go over the top of your head.

Nonetheless, if you're getting quite a few 'errors' then perhaps the E500

's decisions for white balance aren't too good.

Maybe have a further delve into the manual on this issue or go to the Olympus Forum and post a question.

Look for an "auto" setting for the white balance to start with. If the camera has a catchall "auto" setting use that for a while, as it will automatically set the white balance too. If you're using it in "program" or "manual" modes, it may well be leaving it to you to set white balance.

Normally they have half a dozen or so modes:

Sunlight - will give natural results outdoors in the sun

Cloudy - gives slightly warmer tones for when it's cloudy

Tungsten light - gives quite a blue picture because it's compensating for orangey interior light

Fluorescent - gives a browny picture because it's compensating for blueish fluorescent light

Custom - allows you to fiddle with it yourself

Auto - senses the light and tries to choose the most appropriate setting

If it mentions Kelvin, use 6500 for sunlight, higher is bluer, lower is redder/orange.
