Felicia failed MOT Friday 12th

Featured Replies

After 2yrs straight passes :(

Indicator white !,looked more orange than white to me,changed it £1.50.

Steering rack gaiters split, obvious now that you have to look at them full lock to check them out.

Got some 'universal' ones, but should I go for Skoda original?

I could return the 'universals' unused.

Advisory; rear brake pipes rusty.

Can/should you get Skoda parts for these brake pipes?

Thanks for any advice

A failed MOT isn't the end of the world.

Brake pipes you can get a roll for about £5 maybe at Partco.

My Felly brake pipes looked to be corroding but copper greasing them kept it at bay.

And you should be alright with a universal steering rack gaiter as I had to get mine changed on my Favorit a few months after buying. Does the job pretty well.

It's if you want to pay for skoda originals if you can get them at a competitive price.

My MOT tester did that to me but then he showed me the coating on the bulbs flaked off. obv you can see the difference when you stick a new bulb in.

Usually I get advisories for discoloured bulbs unless something else needs doing also.

All the copper grease does is cover the problem, if they are corroded replace them....

I always advise if the pipes are coated in grease/oil etc

The 'universal' did not look the same as,so I got 'originals' from a Scoda dealer (Wayside Bletchley),which looked the same as the universals.

I queried this fact with the dealer who assured me that they would fit even after seeing them on the car.

Guess what they dont fit.:rotz:

The holes too big for starters.

The right hand is off the car,'hole' diameter is much smaller,so the supplied (left) dont fit cos its much too big.

Back on the phone to the dealer who now says there's two types and will have them in tomorrow.

Doh.

think the steering rack gaitors would be due to the different rack types - PAS or not.

No PAS on this car, told them so (the dealer) at the time, any way he looked at it on the car and said it would fit before I left.

He knows as much as I do, (not a lot).

Any way, saved him the effort of looking it up:mad:

Suppose we all get it wrong sometime :o
