Stupidly cheap vRS

Featured Replies

Seen this on Autotrader for £1k! Seems too cheap to me what do you guys think?

Edited by Jon_VRS

Probably means £9,999, but I think that would be too expensive then wouldn't it? lol.

the ad has quite a few mistakes like the price for one, probly meant to be a four fiqure sum and also the mileage, i cant see an 04 plate only having 104 miles on the clock unless its been around the clock hence the price? but thats got to be some serious driving to do that, i'd buy it for that even for the spare parts like new turbo and clutch etc

Normally these "mistakes" on Autotrader are delibrate.

The £999 is so it appears in lower price searches. Same for the 104 miles, it's probably 104,000 miles but it will appear in searches for low mileage cars.

Total muppet sellers who I would personally avoid.

SE?

I thought SE fabias were blue.

Or a scam...

That looks well dodgy... either that or they have made a mistake with the price , I would imagine even a high milage vRS to be worth around £3-4K??. I agree it is meant to be 104K miles though , as its just had a replacement turbo.

The milage is definatly wrong, but doesn't mean it is 105k due to the turbo.

From the description its had a few common mods (lowered/chrome grill surround body coloured) so it may have had a cheap remap, or one thats too strong for the turbo too handle, and they left that detail off...

Either way, i wouldn't go near it after reading that ad as the seller clearly has no idea what is being sold.

this also happens a lot. When searching for honda civic VTI-S's (which im doing atm as my VTI-S just got written off :( ) i keep seeing VTI's advertised as VTI-S's....very anoying

Saw this fabia before this thread was started, i emailed the seller (CSO used sale), which is supposed to be near me (50 miles away) according to autotrader. Turns out the italian who is selling the car says its in newcastle haha SCAM!

Email from the seller : [email protected]

Hello ,

I am very glad to see you interested !

The car is still for sale and it is in perfect condition, the bodywork is immaculate, no scratches, dents or hidden defects as well as the interior in excellent condition , never involved in any kind of accidents, non-smokin. The car has 104,000 mileage.

I've worked under contract as a arhitect, in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I bought the car there from a private seller for my wife. At the end of the 2 years contract, I decided to return to Milano,Italy, the place where I live with my family.

I've leaved the car in Newcastle at a work collegue garage hopeing to sell it there.I decided to sell the car there because the price to register a second-hand car in Italy is to high. Also here,in Italy the cars are left hand drive. It is very hard to drive a right hand car here in Milano.

The car is still registered in United Kingdom under my name. It have all the necessary documents(signed by me) for selling , including service book .

I realize that is a cheap price for such a car, but my special situation forces me do things that I wouldn’t do in normal circumstances. The price I am looking for my car is £1,000 .I can email you more pictures with the vehicle.

If you decide to buy the car,I can take a fly to Newcastle, get the car and come in person to complete the sale. Let me know what your decision is !

Thank you !

Giuseppe Massimo,

So if anyone is in newcastle, and either wants a stupidly cheap vrs, or possibly be robbed and murdered then go check the car out!

deffo scam, or turn up and rob you of £1k.....

I wonder who the car really belongs to.

The advert is actually missing from post #1...

That is 100% a scam - went through it a few years ago with the missus's parents when they were looking at buying a new shape Mini. Luckily enough they asked me if I knew anything about shipping cars back from France otherwise they would have been sending the scammer their money!!

I live "up north" If someone would kindly put the link up I might try and view it. All in the name of science. I also know someone looking for a cheap vRS to Rallycross.

This is a regular scam involving dozens of cars on Autotrader each week!

I have seen very similar worded emails involving various countries around europe that the seller has magically just returned to after living in Britain for a while!

They usually involve you sending a deposit via money transfer so the seller knows you are serious, to warrant him coming over to complete the sale. - Needless to say if you send any money you never see or hear from them again!

The car in the advert will be one that they have 'cut & pasted' from another advert somewhere, and amended with their details.
