Anyone with coilovers had this problem...

Featured Replies

Right wish I had never bloody bothered with coilovers now causing more problems than benefits.

Has anyone, after having their coilovers fitted, found that the anti roll bar on the drivers side has rubbed against what I assume is the track rod (metal bar behind driveshaft)

Well mine has its I am sure that it will be an MOT failure I dont why it is doing it on both locks there is still an inch of clearance, I can only assume the arb is moving somehow but both stops at either end are still intact and droplinks and tight?

I am 99% sure someone posted a similar problem up with a picture but can find it now.

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

you need to put shorter drop links on if going lower than 50mm or it will sit on the antiroll bar.

I will get a picture its right on the corner I cant see how changing the droplinks will make any difference its not contacting the driveshaft, its contacting the metal track rod behind it.

Others have AP's and are much much lower than me and have no problems with standard links.

in that case i'm not sure, i know you have to change the drop links when going a lot lower to stop fouling of the antiroll bar.

i had to have mine shortened as it wouldnt move when first lowered.

yip get shorter links on.... i tried normal links and it was a no go

But its not touching the driveshaft theres an inch of clearance, its touching the corner of the arb on the track rod. i WILL GET A PIC LATER TODAY;

203_vrs if thats his username cant remember - very low used to have anteras on - he has AP and has normal links on

With the AP and Weitecs shortened drop links arent required as the mounting for the link is raised and not straight.

Is it hitting on lock or normally? Very odd as it shouldnt be that far back in my minds eye, looking forward to pic.

Seems to me roll bar is moving? In the passenger arch there is a bit of marking where it looks like the bottom droplink on that side the bolt has pushed into the arch as its moved to the right.

However although the roll bar looks ****ED the stops are still in place.

Bum.

Hmmm thts weird mine is not like tht and mine is low, i have got shorter droplinks got them made.

I think KW coilies come with shorter links no? Mine's got no rubbing but mine's not that low compared to some. I get more tyre on arch rubbing than anywhere else inside.... :o

hello, i had this problem on my first fabia, i changed them to ones of a ford galaxy, they are alot stonger ones, so had to be good for the car, only draw back is you have to dril the antiroll bar and shock out to take them, very sore on drill bit and cordless drills,

My kw coilovera didn't come with them!

have exactly the same problem, no one could suggest anything, i was wandering if its related to console bush movement as mine seem to twist a fair bit on full lock. Do you have standard bushes? Really would like to get to the bottom of this

I've not got this problem I don;t think. but I've got mk1 mondoe drop links on mine, only cost £10 for the pair. you could try them

^^ yeah i was told to get them too!

droplinks wont help with this, its hitting right next to the mount, droplinks wont move the position of the anti roll bar mount. I guess the only way to see for sure would be to compare two lowered cars, one with the problem and one without and see whats different

I have cupra wishbone bushes.

It doesnt look like its rubbing all the time as the marks would look a lot more fresh, but there is certainly a position where they are coming into contact.

would raising it a bit help?

mines only on full lock in both directions, i cant raise mine as im on springs not coilovers:thumbdwn:

could someone with a lowered car without this problem perhaps take pictures behind the wheel whilst on full lock both ways?
