Small System Fit

Featured Replies

Hi,

After owning my Octy for 2 years I have finally got too fed up with the poor sound. I have a decent head unit (Pioneer P75BT) but that's it. I want base but not a subwoofer....! People have recommended the JL Audio speakers - TR up to C5 series. All I want is sound in the front really - Any suggestions? I am looking at spending around £400 max......

Cheers

Tweeters won't give you bass. £400 will get you a really good front set-up. If you can run an amp then it's worth considering.

tbh i'd say if you have 400 quid just get a cheap small sub/amp and some decent components for the front, you will never get any decent bass from component speakers/6x9's

totaly agree with you there alan (awaits confusion from awol as to why i know him lol )

You wont get Bass from components. You will get mid-bass but not proper bass.

If i were you i'd buy a bulk pack of sound deadening, a set of components, a 4 channel amp and a cheap, low powered sub.

Something along the lines of:

Deadening

Components

Amp

Sub

Wiring kit

Total: £403

And then how much for installation...?!! Not a great DIYer tbh, so how did you come to choose those speakers/amp etc - Do you have them yourself?

the speakers have had some great reviews and i had the old version of that amp as it was brilliant VFM. The sub also has had great reviews by lots of people.

TBH its easy to fit. imo its best to do it by your self as its cheaper (average for car audio is £30-£50 ph) and you learn how to do it.
