Lots of Electrical Problems with Fabia VRS 05 plate

Featured Replies

I have a Fabia VRS 05 plate and in the last 2-3 weeks it has been having a lot of strange electrical problems.

The car has recently been repaired after being in a front end crash and the problems have only been apparant after getting it back from the local repairer.

It started the day after we picked the car up. Started the car and it then said that the back seat wasnt down properly and then also said that a bulb was out.

We checked it and the seat was down ok and checked all of the bulbs and they were all working. We thought it was just a one off but over the last few weeks it has happened a few other times, other lights are randomly displaying but then going off after turning off and then turning back ok. The back wipe keeps firing up even though they were not turned on. Some times when I indicate the dask beeps shows loads of lights and when I turn the indicator off the lights all go off.

Lastly when locking the car with the fob, more often than not as soon as it locks the doors the alarm goes off.

I dont know if it is related the the crash and repair or not but I am going to take it back to the repairer this week to look.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this, I cannot help but think is must either be wiring or the ECU.

I'd say a damaged section of wiring loom, or an earth point that hasn't been put back on (or not put back to clean metal). Have a good look around where the repairs were done.

+1 and the alarm going off will be the bonnet switch. Obviously it hasn't been fully repaired so needs to go back to the body shop.
