Hi people

ive check threads for this problem but could find any that matched mine. so id thought id post my problem.

air con is working ok but where the passenger footwell is the air con unit(so i have been told) keeps rattling and groaning when its turn off , any ideas guys.

thanks.

andy.

Its the re-circ flap motor.

You can replaced for about £80 for the part, but it's in a right ballache area. I was going to unplug mine and leave it in the fresh air position but I cna't even get too the plug never mind the flap motor.

Your lucky mine does it all the time, although it does stop if I leave it on re-circ for about 10 mins, but then it starts again if I turn the engine off and on.

Yeah it'll be the V71 flap motor.

Changed mine and lost most of the skin on my arms doing it! It sounds simple enough to do, but theres very little room to work with back there.

Remove the glovebox and drop out the blower motor from the housing so you can get a hand on the flap itself (for positioning when refitting new motor). Then you just need some small hands to reach back and work on the motor itself!

thanks guys - so what happens if you just leave it? will the air con eventually pack in or something?? what should i do with it.?

Can't see anything wrong with just leaving it, as it can't damage the aircon system. It's just irritating when it makes the noise, and makes the blower pulse sometimes due to the constant random motor movement!
