DSG

Featured Replies

With DSG coming to the Mk II Octavia, I've been researching it a little. The Audi A3 (2.0 FSI Turbo) posts 0-60 times of 7 seconds in manual guise, but 6.9 seconds with the DSG gearbox. Has anyone tried out DSG, and is it as good as they say? Or is it a cynical attempt to get people to shell out an extra 1200 notes on an autobox that isn't really any quicker? How about in-gear performance?

PM Skodaw......he's had play with the A3 3.2V6 DSG....apparently has launch control.

If you believe the magazines, it is pretty good. Have read an explanation of the system somewhere, and it looks pretty clever. No good for skipping a gear though IIRC.

Have you read this thread and link? It might help answer your questions.

am very interested in this option on the Octy II vRS,but it will depend on limitations due torque and whether the new Octy vRS comes with a Diesel or a petrol engine.

i will be re-mapping next car no matter what so don't want any issue causing me to not have the most that's possible due gearbox and an extra

I have driven a new (Mk5) Golf 2.0TDi with DSG at Millbrook test circuit on both the hill route and high speed bowl and it is superb!

The upchange is virtually unoticeable - it is so smooth.

I guess the reason for reduction in 0-60 time is due to rapid gearchange - DSG pre-selects the next gear.

It will definitely be the choice on my next Octavia! :)

John.

if its that good then i think i will getting it.

its only the torque limit that is off putting.

mmmmm, must admit i like the sound of it but what about new clutch time???

that will be very expensive :S
