bloody birds

Featured Replies

i was coming home from work the other morning after working a week of nights so was pretty tired. i didnt see a pigeon on the road and as i was practically beside him he flew up and basically exploded as i hit him. anyway it was fairly messy but got most of the guts out from behind the grill. the only thing is the car felt really sluggish afterwards. its not too bad now but it still doesnt fell right. i installed my bluefin about 3 days before this and the car was flying but now it just feels like it was never installed. anyone have any idea what might be wrong? could hitting a bird do damage or is it just in my head? its a vrs tdi and the bird went through the lower vertical grill.

pigeon bits blocking the air intake?

Do TDIs have intercoolers? Suicide pigeon may have busted a small hole in it, resulting in a boost leak?

Yep TDIs do have intercoolers you may have cracked it in the core or in the "end tank" simalar? to a radiaitor.

i opened the airbox and thats pigeon free. yeah he pretty much hit the intercooler dead on. there is still little bits of him in there i couldnt get out. would that mean the intercooler needs to be replaced? should i look for any fluid underneath or leaking out?

Subaru drivers get this a lot....

You shouldn't be leaking any fluids as inter-coolers are air to air radiators. If it used water it would be a 'charge-cooler'.

Probably not quite the type of birds Scooby drivers were hoping to attract :D (sorry but someone had to say it)

When I was a young boy a seagul took a dump on my coat to which my Dad's response was "It's a good job cows can't fly" - same applies here I reckon

I'd give it a going over with a jet wash :)

I'd be surprised if the indercooler's been holed, unless the grille in front of it's gone too.

the car still chugs now and again. can i take it to any mechanic to check it out or does it have to be a skoda garage? could it be the bluefin remap giving me problems??

Whereabouts are you? (update your profile!)

Might be worth getting the car scanned for fault codes - see if anything's been flagged up. Either by the Bluefin installation or pigeon-related.

Pigeon-related error code?
