TDI VRS 1/4 Mile

Featured Replies

Just for fun I've booked a 1/4 mile run at GTI International on Sunday. I've just had a search for any previous results but couldn't find any. Mine is totally stock so what should I expect?

My only wish is to beat my Leon FR TDI which I did a 16.1 at Santa Pod with.:)

Think I'll be doing one there too. I'll have to race you :)

Just have to hope we don't start a DPF regen at the wrong time!

Are you doing the Show n Shine?

I would hope for a 16 flat but it's a big car with stock power. You just never know. I might challenge you as wellm but I'm not making the decision to get drag race tickets until the Saturday when I know what the weather is doing. If it's damp there's no point me bothering at all.

Thanks guys I don't mind a couple of races to spice things up

wega3k I don't think my car's good enough for a s'n's if I'm honest and I think 16s would be the target too. Wheel spin is going to be hard to judge using the onboard launch control. However, I'm also intrigued what 0-60 time will come up!

It's just had it's 3rd variable service so at least I know the airfilters been replaced!:D

I've had a few practice full bore starts recently and when I'm really trying for super quick shifts I sometimes slightly crunch 2nd or 3rd. Is this likely to be me just not being accurate enough with my clutch timing or can you reach a limit of the box?

you'll crunch gears no problem if you rush the box, not too hard on the TFSi, so I dont imagine the PD170 is much different, full bore start with DSG :D

Well mystery solved and i found out today at GTI international.

It's a shame it couldn't get the same figures as the Leon but it is a heavier car.

Great fun trying though:cool:

Well you beat me! I've got such a great list of excuses though...

Combined occupant weight of about 38stone.

Fridge and 2 cool boxes full of booze and meat, tents etc in the boot.

In the wet.

Think it was 1/4 in just over 17 and 0-60 in 9.4? (sheet's in the car)

:)

Weight is a big factor :D Sorry to miss you though I hung around your car at the s n s but we obviously missed each other. How did you get on there? It looked very clean;)

I'm sure I heard on the tannoy that the blue octy won best Skoda, then Callum with the silver fabia, then Si with the black vRS with merc wheels. I think the organisers didn't want Si to win after taking best Skoda in show & shine for the last 3 years or so. :D

Just for Comparison, when I took My fabia vRS on Santa Pod after 10 attempts I got a best time of 16.25 for the 1/4 mile.

My car is bog standard and all it could of had different was BP Ultimate or Shell V Power Deisel (if that makes any difference) I also left all seats parcel shelf in to make it as normal as possible.

Found the sheet. It's actually slightly worse than I'd chosen to remember.. 17.4 secs for the 1/4 and 9.5 0-60. Still somehow beat the scirroco in the other lane! Will post the in-car vid of it when I get a chance. Next time I'll do it 1up without a boot full of crap and I'll have my DPF-off Milltek pipe and Custom-Code map.

My run on Saturday...
