door cable wotsit

Featured Replies

hi,

how easy is it to take off the cable wotsit that covers the wires running to the front doors? It's a sort of round cover tubular cover with 2 circular bits on each end (i'm sure i could describe this in a much simpler way!)

i need to run some speaker wire into the doors, and was wanting to put them in there for tidyness. :D

thanks

to detcach the rubber bit running between the car and the door is doddle just pull...however...running a cable in is quite another story..the grommit from the car to the outside is hidden quite high up behind the dash :( ....unless you are running serious power into the front speakers 150Wrms + (drool.. if you are) use the stock wire alread running into the doors just to save you time and effort...you will find the ends behind your HU..

ahh, i'm fitting component speakers and they come with a crossover unit, i was going to fit this under the dash, and run the wires into the door, hmmm... any ideas from those people who have fitted similar?... nb, i'm trying not to take off the door panels if at all possible, i'm hoping to do all the work through the speaker hole! ;)

well mine are small enough to put in the door and still allow the window to come down...idealy id like then in the car and run a wire like your talking about.. i looked but you talking about a mission...unless you can drill a hole below the dash line..and feed it in from there but then your still gunna have to take the door card off to retreave the wire unless yo are very felexable with small hands...if i were you id see if you could keep the cross over door side and use the standard wire for the input...

Someone tried to hot-wire your car ?

They obviously weren't very bright, they could have just used the conveniently placed key...

^^ lol

i'll have to do some more investigation, but it looks like my crossovers will be placed inside the door somewhere now, i dont fancy taking the dash to bits just to feed a wire :thumbdwn:

Gods, that makes me feel old!

Used to take door trims off, remove dashboards, steering wheels, anything in the way (and put them back together again!) to install radios and speakers in my cars - in the days when they weren't standard fittings.

Nowadays, if any work needs a tool - it goes into a garage.....
