Does Corrida red paint finish fade?

Featured Replies

hi every body im thinking of buying a corrida red vrs i wanted to know do they fade in colour like other red cars? thanks for you help and advise.

Mine hasn't faded after 5 years and it has lived in NZ for the the last three. We have much higher UV here than the UK (hole in the ozone layer )

As long as the car is looked after I don't see why it would fade.

thanks for your reply mate! am 99% sure of buying.

Do it! They're great cars - I'm not selling mine ever!

Mine not lost any colour either (2002 model) although I did have to do a little work on the spoiler as it went a bit dull, but some T-cut  and a decent polish brought it up like new.....

Hmmm, on closer inspection of those bumper trims, god they have faded badly, any one know something to sort them out??

Try peanut butter or Blackwow. As long as you maintain the paint finish you will minimise fading.

as above the only bit on mine that faded was the rear spoiler which i think is aftermarket not original paint.

as for bumper trim i did this:

Heat gun to restore Black plastic trim - Detailing World

and has stayed black much longer than any treatment i have ever used! wouldnt do it every wash though lol

Or, you could get it resprayed........:eek:

Wow,what a colour!!!:eek::eek::eek: i may paint my black octy that colour!!!......not!!:rofl:

You shouldn't experience paint fade or oxidisation on Corrida Red unless a car has resprayed panel(s) and the bodyshop neglected to apply the lacquer!:thumbup:

They do fade, as do all flat reds if not looked after.

:iagree: - all straight reds (and pretty much all straight paints except white [which goes yellow] and black) fade eventually.

On my 51 Octavia the wing mirrors went a bit pink but the rest of the paintwork was just fine. Chipped to ****, but fine colour wise.

  • 1 month later...

Just to resurrect an old thread for the hell of it........

I tried the peanut butter today on my greyed trim, and wow, what a difference.

Dont know how long it may last, but only took a few mins, so dont mind repeating after its weekly wash....

Oh, and Red is the best......

Cheers

Steve
