Warning about insurance

Does anyone here use Adrain flux and the company its self enisgn (now called QBE)?

Reason i ask is after my accident i've been totaly f****d and my payout wont cover the cost of a new car. The value of my car has risen since i bought it, very rare but it happens.

QBE have as one of their clauses they will only payout the policy holder estimate or market value, WHICH EVER IS LOWER. Basically they expect you to keep an eye on the value of your car for the length of the policy and adjust it accordingly.

I also found out that if your car gets wirren off adrian flux will not provide a hire car, even if it wasnt your fault, your fully comp, have courtesy car on your policy etc etc because you will only give out hire cars when your vehicle is being repaired.

Just thought i'd let you all know as im going through hell right now having to borrow my mums car (fabia mk1 hence being on here lol) and going to have to save up to replace my old civic :rotz::thumbdwn:

I feel for you mate, but I think you will find that unless you specificaly go for a policy with an "agreed value", you will only ever get market value for your car from ANY insurance company; and likewise with the courtesy car thing...

All policies have terms and conditions which are for the policy holder to read before accepting the policy. In accepting the policy you are agreeing to the terms and conditions. You will find that they are not the only company that have the above terms set out in their policy.

Hi

If you would like to discuss the claim i can arrange a call back for you. Just pm me your full name, reference number and telephone number, and i can pass on your details to the claims manager to look into this and arrange a call back.

Dan

Well, if you can find any insurance (other than gap policies) that pays out what you say the car was worth, please let me know.

Similarly, if you can find a policy that supplies a courtesy car on an agreed write-off (meaning after the write-off is agreed, not from loss until write-off) just because the claim value is not agreed.

Well what a car is "worth" and what you paid for it are always going to be different.

If a car is written off you should never be in a position where you cannot replace like for like.

So never accept the first offer for your write-off and then shop around and give proof of how much it will cost to replace your broken vehicle with another one the same.

I personally took out a "back to invoice" GAP insurance on my car.

So should I have it written off in 3 years then the GAP makes up the difference between what the insurance offers and what I actually paid for the vehicle.

However this was an extra policy and thus cost me more.

As for a hire car if its not your fault there are many companies that will provide this and then bill the other party helphire for example

You could always use the option you have to insist that if the insurance does not agree with your assessment of value they provide an equivalent vehicle instead of a pay out.

What everyone else says thats how insurance companies work.

Sometimes it can work in your favour.

My Felly was hit by a truck and the wing got bent. My insurers were gonna pay me £1100 for the car but i said since the other party are paying, stick a new wing on!!! I only paid £745 for the car a year previous.

My sisters Micra got nicked and minus the excess she got £600 for it, paid £900 for the car in 2005.

She did have to debate with the company as they only gave her £500 after deducting the excess.

What is the car in question where the value has risen? If values started going up after your accident then that doesn't mean your payout will go up too if the car gets written off.

its a civic VTI-S. they were selling for 2-2.5k when i bought mine. now they go for nearer the 3k mark if not more

Insurers will always pay the lower value. This is why GAP insurance is key if your car is on HP/loan.

As has been said, it the 3rd parties fault, then you should be claiming for a hire car until settlement. It was 3rd party's fault, yes?

yea it was their fault. Negligence on the farmers side i guess as the cow that i hit/landed on my bonnet was loose.

tbh i've tried talking to AF, my insurer, the company they use for hire cars and the 3dr party's insurance company and none will help.

Im VERY lucky i can borrow my mums car as i'd have had to buy a new car to get to work and so me and my gf can go on holiday tomorrow

You should be claiming any loss of use from the 3rd party. Any good insurance firm would help you when you're not at fault. It's one reason legal cover shouldnt be declined - it's usually only an extra £10-20 tops.

Hopefully Dan@AF can sort you out.

indeed. i shall be talking to him in further detail about the matter :)

If the other person had admitted fault....you have informed flux....tell them you do not need the claim sorting by them and do it through a claims management company...helphire/europa is it ?? You will get a car and not loose no claims till settlement etc

If using a claims mangement compant look for a recommendation for one as well.
