I gather its not normal . . . But thats about all i gather!

Wrong pads?

Right pads on wrong?

Some actual help would be nice!

Pads can have a chamfer on them to reduce noise but is that pad lifted off the disc completely on the outer diameter? difficult to see from the picture.

Steve - Yes! No difference when the pedal is pressed.

There's about 10mm clearance from the disc to the pad on the outer diametre even when the pedal is pressed.

Hello all, its my car.

Got them fitted and drove to work but could tell something was wrong, I know something is wrong I was just wanted someone could tell me what.

Does it look like wrong pads or are they back to front ?

Called the garage and they would would not take it they have fitted them wrong, they say that is how they should be.

Looks perfectly normal like the chamfer on the pad to me. I admit it's not a great picture so it's hard to be 100% sure but i think that's fine.

As for feeling a bit off, you do have to bed them in for a while before they start to bite.

Can you shine a light in that gap between disc and pad and see if there's pad material further down? Right now it looks like somebody put a grinder to your pads and stuck them on the car, but it might be the end taper as well, in a weird pattern, tho.

Could not do the light test but I got a felt tip and drew a line across the disk, it all got rubbed out so it does look like the pad goes across the whole disk.

I also tried putting paper down the side, it stops about 1.5/2cm down. Just never seen anything like it before.

Its also starting to stop a little better as well.

Oh! If i wiggle my lcd back and forth I can barely make out the details of a dark patch of pad touching the disk. So that must be just a funny looking taper.

To confirm, could you not go and ask the fitter what make the pads where? There must be a picture of them on the interweb somewhere.

looks exactly the same on my car from 0 km's.....today 14500 km...no problem at all with braking...must be some "trick" with pads..:)

Why's the metal clip showing on the outside of the caliper? That should be inside the piston, not floating where it is.

The chamfer is normal enough, but they do look a little big compared to the old pad's braking area.

Now that is a very valid point, that I hadn't looked at.

That's either the incorrect pad for the calliper or on the wrong side of the disk.

.

Whats the clip for??? Is it right across the pad so the piston makes contact to apply pressure right across the pad?
