Engine Judder

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sold a Subaru, bought a GSX-R and VRS..best of both worlds..!

Car is '06 with 26k.

I have a very noticable, but intermittent, engine judder at idle. Don't think it is a diesel injection issue as the idle seems to be very smooth but the judder is enough to shake the whole car at times. Any ideas?

I have been told it could be the dual mass flywheel, (feels like it could be someting rotating with the engine and out of balance). Car is under 3 months main dealer used warranty but the issue I have is it is not always there...the judder. Any ideas on helping diagnose the problem?

Many thanks

Engine mounting at the gearbox side would be first thing to check. Then the gearbox dogbone mount, between gearbox and subframe. Could also be the MAF sensor, simply unplug it to see if it runs better.

DMF tends to knock like crazy when it fails, especially is you accelerate hard below 2,000 revs (which you normally shouldn't do, as that's what wrecks the DMF.)
