Skodateile Maxidot quandary

Help !!

Anyone recently purchased a diesel vRS Maxidot display from Skodateile.cz ?

I had one delivered in the last 2 weeks and attempted to get it fitted at the local dealer today. Apparently it went in, all working OK, until they came to code it to the vehicle, at which point it threw it's dummy out and gave an error message, basically that it wouldn't take the code.

The Mastertech's explanation was that it must have been coded before, and therefore cannot be coded again.

Upshot is that I'm now £120 lighter, and have no maxidot.

Any clues please ?

Maxidot retro fit are renowned for being tempermental when it comes to coding. You might want to try a PM to VRStu or Lummox for some techy assistance.

I think that "Mastertech" is talking out of his backside. If only they'd supplied you with the correct key tag when you bought your car instead of giving you someone elses, we'd have had it done last week and you would be a grand total of £0 out of pocket.

Don't give up yet :)

You've probably read about all the fun I had having Maxidot Retro-fitted.

Mine was for a TFSI, but I bought from Skodateile too and the unit was certainly brand new and never before coded.

Autohaus had problems coding mine - I actually left on the first day with numerous warning lights.

Even when they took a second attempt they couldn't sort it.

Shark90 here took a look for me and he too had problems.

In the end I went to Vindis here in Cambridge and they did manage to sort it out.

They told me that Autohaus had incorrectly done something or other and in the end Vindis simply reversed the whole job.

Took out Maxidot, put my old display back.

Then started again and then it all worked.

I would be surprised if you've been sold a second hand Maxidot if they promise a brand new one and the retrofit is definitely possible.
