Doing 25,000 mile service on my '56 Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Guys,

Have 'service 200 miles' up on my odometer display (which will be the 25,000 mile service), have found how to reset the indicator on here, my question is what oil should I use in my Fabia vRS 130PD engine? Thought I may as well do it myself, the dealer wants £180 for the service, what will it be, oil change and filter? What else?

It's a 2006, '56 plate car, do I need Shel Helix oil as it recommends under bonnet, what have you all succesfully used? Is it a PDi or just a PD engine in the car?

All help welcome ;)

Thanks,

Dan

Just found this via google but comments on which one to use welcomed:

It is important to keep an eye on oil levels on the vRS as diesels go through their oil a lot quicker than petrol performance cars. You must use an oil which meets specification VW 505 01. The following oils are approved to that specification:

BP Special Visco V 5W-40 (fully synthetic)

Bucher AG Motorex Profile V-XL 5W-40

Carat ad-Diesel PD-Oil 5W-40

Carlube Triple R 5W-40 PD Diesel (fully synthetic)

CARTECHNIC Motorenol Pumpe-Duse 5W-40

Castrol 505.01 5W-40

Castrol GTD 505 01 5W-40

Cepsa Star TDI Synt 5W-40

DEA Ultec Diesel SAE 5W-40

Delek IDI 5W-40

Delphi Prestige Diesel Plus 5W-40 (synthetic-based)

Denicol Pro Syn 4 5W-40

Elf Excellium DID 5W-40

Esso 505 01 5W-40

Eurol Turbo DI 5W-40

Fina Delta 505.01 5W-40

FL Selenia Aktual Top Synth 5W-40

FL Selenia Pulsar Progress 5W-40

FL Selenia Selenia Performer 5W-40

Fuchs Labo Syntha High Tech Synthese 5W-40

Fuchs TITAN Supersyn Plus 5W-40

Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL PD SAE 5W-40 (fully synthetic)

Gulf Oil Gulf TEC Plus 5W-40

Repsol Elite 50501 TDI 5W-40

Shell Helix Diesel Plus VA 5W-40

Texaco Havoline 505.01 5W-40

Total Gulf GDI Extra 5W-40

Total Quartz 505.01 5W-40

Unil Opal Opaljet 505.01 5W-40

VAG-branded 505 01 505 00 High Lubricity Engine Oil 5W-40 - G 052 167 A2

- (Part No: ZGB 115 QLB 00 462 - RRP £32.90 inc VAT for 5 litres)

Valvoline DuraBlend Diesel motor oil SAE 5W-40 (semi-synthetic)

VAPS VAPSOIL 505 01 5W-40

Volkswagen Original Teile Motorenoel G 052 167 A2

Yacco VX 505 5W-40

Fabia vRS is on fixed service intervals of 10k miles.

Oil must meet VAG spec 505.01.

Please take your car to someone who knows what they're doing.

I agree, a garage will give you stamp in your service book which is better when you eventually sell the car. It wouldn't matter much if it was a much older car say 8 or 9 years old but a 2.5/3 year old wants a garage. Is it still under warranty? If it is you will probably void it by doing it yourself. Remember it still does not (I think) have to be a main Skoda dealer to do this work even if it's under warranty. A good VAG specialist is probably the best

You did not have to goggle the oils, there is a better list of correct oils (VW 505.01) in a sticky thread at the top of the Fabia section on here

It's 3 years old no? I guess 2.5 years as the 1st MOT is due in December.

Ok I'll take it to a garage ;)

Cheers,

Dan

My service from skoda for my vrs was going to be £160.

I supplied them my own oil (millers pd 505.01) which i had bought for £28

service bill was then brought down to around £110 !
