Polishing..........

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can you use a randon orbital sander - with polishing pads, obviously - as a polish applicator?

Probably not a good idea.

Though I have to confess I did use a foam pad on one while trying to do something with the horribly oxidised and moss covered Panda recently - a case of nothing to lose.

Was tempted to take more photos and do an "antidote to detailing" thread

Proper DA machines are just more powerful random orbital sanders. So, yes, but you need to choose which one carefully. At the cheap end Silverline and MAC do one for £20.

The Bosche PEX400AE is fine, but costs almost as much as a 'proper' DA machine.

There's huge thread over on detailing world called "Alternative Polishing Machines"

Kestral DAS 6 iirc was a sander first.
