Can you fit Maxi-dot yourself?

Featured Replies

I have eyes on a brand new maxidot display for my Octy II. Can it be fitted yourself? I have the latest version of VCDS.

Or must it go to a dealer? If the Maxidot came with its SKC would I be able to fit myself?

Yes you can do it if the cluster comes with an SKC and you have your own SKC. If you don't then it's a no go.

You can only input the correct mileage into a new cluster.

If the Maxidot is brand new then you should be OK on both counts.

Bah! Do I need the SKC from my original cluster? The one I am looking at is brand new and has its SKC with it.

I dont think I got the key tag/number thingy with my car. I will search for it though.

Yes, you need both SKCs. What year is your car? I might be able to retrieve it for you.

Mine is a late 2005, 55 plate.

Did they change the immo systems at a certain date? Will a 2009 maxidot fit ok into a 2005 car?

Thanks for all your help/info so far!

Might you take on the job for a price?!

The new Maxidot isn't a facelift dashboard is it? With the different gauges? They have different connectors on the back so make sure it isn't.

Otherwise the new Maxidot will go into your car no problem. And no trouble retrieving your SKC from a 2005 cluster :)

No the one I have will be the pre-facelift version, the gauges look identical to my 2005 version.

Cheers for the PM, will be in touch in due course!
