Wich motor oil???

Featured Replies

Hello!

On the next week I have to change the motor oil in my car.I have bought my felicia 1.3 Glxi hachback 2 years ago and I always used the Shell Helix mineral 15W-40 motor oil.But now I decided to change on the Shell Helix synthetic 10W-40 motor oil.My question is that is this motor oil good for the engine or I have to stay with the current one??Thank You!

I'd stick with the first out of the two but I don't think the second would do any harm.

I run mine with 10w40 Semi Synthetic.

My engine hasn't kicked up any fuss.

Ditto :)

Hi Josephe,

I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to engine oil. I always use the same as the dealers, VW Quantum semi-synthetic 10W40. I change the oil and filter every 5-6,000 miles and my 1.9D Felicia now has 156,000 miles on it with zero oil consumption between services. I normally buy the oil from the VW dealer in a 20 litre drum for about £45 and that does me two years. Hope this helps.

Hi Josephe.

Is there any particular reason why you want to change to synthetic oil? I'd not have thought it worthwhile with service intervals under 10_000 miles or annual, whichever's first.

I'd be happy with either of your cited oils.

There is no big reason why I want to change the type of the oil.Just I think the 10W-40 oil is better for the engine.Or I think is better for the engine..
