Heated seats, retro fit?

Featured Replies

Has anyone done this on a Fabia VRS? if so how easy is it to do and what do I need to buy, part numbers would be good if anyone has them.

Cheers:thumbup:

Faskoda.

Box of matches in your back pocket

Would be expensive, and the seats weigh a ton. Also loads of wiring to do, and you need a very hefty battery. Wiring an circuitry is in the Haynes manual I think.

Simples :D

VAG do sell retro-fit heated seat kits - well I've seen them on ebay for Jetta and Passat, but as for most of these retro-fit kits, no one ever gets to know about them until they end up on ebay as dealers NOS - and yes they do cost a bit over £200, I've thought about them for my 2000MY B5 Passat but I'm sure it would be better to hold the money for something else that it might "ask" for - they are very very good though - my wife has them on her 2003MY 9N Polo as part of a "winter pack".

I recently fitted a set of heater pads from this manufacturer (3rd product line down) to my old Ford.

Current consumption is less than 4 amps on the highest setting (2 settings). Wiring wise, you only need to connect a permanent live, ignition live and 2 earths, though I suspect that if you want to use proper Fabia switches, it could get complicated.

Thanks for the replies, I thoight there was a kit but didn't know if it was for teh Fabia or another car (I know there is one for a Golf) where you get the seat pads, a wiring loom and the switches, I think you also need Vag-com to enable the system at the end too. I asked my local dealer but they didn't think it could be done. I asked a local upholsterer and they said yes they could do it but interestingly they had no intentions of going anywhere near Skoda, they were just going to fit aftermarket pads and bring ina sparky to wire it all, not sure about that, I suggested maybe I would do some research, maybe buy the relevant VW bits and se what they would take to fit it and they were OK about that too and I didn't think too unreasonably priced. I will keep the Waeco thing in mind and have alook on E.Bay as well. I have Vag-com and I am fairly sure I could get Skoda parts to get me eg. switches, just not sure if they would supply the pads and wiring or if maybe Seat or VW would, anyone any idea?
