Felicia starting oddity.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Bought a "R" Felicia a few weeks ago: with 53k and a weird habit. 75% of the time it starts fine; the other 25% the starter engages but doesn't even try to turn the engine over.

When it does eventually decide to behave spins fine and fires up straight away...and the dash lights don't dim as they would if it was straining or the battery was shot. Thought it might be a dead winding on the armature so fitted a s/h starter....same problem.

If anyone's come across this problem I'd be gratefull for any hints.

Oh and I was wondering if all Felicias have a humungus flat spot just off idle when cold. Mine's got one and it makes crossing the dual-carriageway every morning....interesting!

Ta very much.

It sounds like the starting problem could be the ignition barrel starting to go. I had this with my Felicia and I kept it going by spraying it with WD40 and cleaning the key. Ideally it needs to be replaced I would have thought, as it will get worse and probably fail.
