what engine oil should i go for ?

I just got some Halfords 10w/40 semi-synthetic for when I do my next change. It's currently on variable servicing from the previous owner, but it won't be doing the same sort of miles it was before so I'm swapping over from 5w/30 or whatever the long life oil is. Mainly went for the Halfords stuff because it came with a free set of Halfords Professional screwdrivers!

Schern have you noticed yours using more on the 5w30 compared to the 10w40? Mine seemed to eat a fair amount with the 5w30 but hasn't needed a drop since i've gone over to 10w40.

I just used castrol magnatec stuff this time although the fuchs stuff is meant to be good, it's pretty cheap too really.
