In prep for National Day...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just before I went away on my holiday/briskoda camping trip I managed to spend a day cleaning the car for National Day, some may say it was a waste of time with me covering 905 miles while away down south last week, but I was off for the week before so I thought I would spend some time cleaning the car.

Here are the before pics, notice where I have marked with a finger line or a x to show the dirt.

The car was covered in dead flies and bugs from our brisky chip shop run so I removed these with Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover

Now it is time to clean the car...

I cleaned the car using Simonz triple wax car shampoo which as it says puts 3 coats of wax on the car while being a shampoo, I got this stuff out of Asda at the start of the year for about £4.00 and have never had any problems with this I tend to use this instead of spending time polishing the car as once you chamios it off the car does not need a polish.

Here are some of the pics of the clean car.

After cleaning the car and wiping it drying I stuck two coats of Autoglym wax on it and the car looked stunning at this point I still had the intertior to do and clean the wheels but I decided I had to head into town to do a couple of errands and break up the detail...

Next to come is the wheels and inteerior...

After being in town I came back and one of the neighbours pointed out to me that the car looked stunning but the wheels needed a clean...:rofl::rofl:

I really like the wheels when they are clean but cleaning them is a nightmare and usually Skodagirl1985 tends to clean these for me while I clean the car but today there was no Skodagirl!!

First I rinsed them off and used six tablespoons of Star Drops to clean the wheels and then rinsed them again, after rinsing I then went over them again with the star drops and rinsed off before using Simonez wash and wax after allowing them to go white I then went over them and here is the finished result on the wheels, really sparkly and glossy finish.

I then dressed the tyres using turtlewax nano tyre gel and then cleaned all the metal work using Meguirs metal cleaner aka the exhaust and chrome grill before dressing the trim using Turtlewax nano dash cleaner which also cleans the trim on the outside of the car.

I then started on the interior and about a years worth of dirt was cleaned, the mats were cleaned using Turtle wax interior shampoo and the carpets were also cleaned

Last of all but not least I managed to clean the seats using Autoglym interior shampoo as the seats had not been cleaned for at least 6 months and it was getting a bit grubby.

Here is the result

Needless to say I really enjoyed spending the day with the car, not put this much effort into doing this with the car but just a shame now as the car is filthy again and the interior needs a quick clean for National day so going to put aside two days this week hopefully Monday and Friday to clean her for Sunday.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers

Davy

Looking good :D I might give mine a wash but not doing anything until I know the weather (more or less). If it is wet I'm doing no advanced cleaning and just bring some bits with me. :)

something to do with lowering the car and making the wheels stick out.

No bugs came off straight away just spray on and wipe off, the car today has been a work horse moving stuff for my auntie to my late grandfathers house for her in preparation in moving in, so interior needs to be cleaned again.

Looking good Davy, will it look like that next week though....?

Here's hoping, I'm going to start cleaning tonight and work on it when I'm off on friday, hopefully going to just spray detailer on it to get the worst of the dirt off, but I do have a travel lodge to clean the car in the night before National Day!

Down and out was a route I considered until I started to race in it up at crail, hence why I purchased a tuning box to make it quicker.

Looks good - nice result on the wheels
