fabia 02 wont start when warm

Featured Replies

hi folks i gt a fabia02 1.4 16v when it gets warm it wont start have to wait an hour then it would start iv read on briskoda tht it could be the tempature control senser as i dont have the funds to take it to the garage as i lost my job i would like to do it myself .i had the egr valve changed 5 months back with the lamber senser too because the engine management light came on now its coming on and off as well as not starting it does not lose power and runs fine other than a chugger when i start it an hour later and a bit of smoke and 2 or 3 times its reved out and i have to turn it off and its drinking the fuel too any help would be grateful thank karl:thumbup:

A code scan would help pinpoint the problem, and show if it is indeed the temp sensor. Try to find a member near you with VAGCOM and chuck them a few bear tokens.

If you just guess, you might spend money on parts that are not needed, and that can get expensive.

Could well be the temp sensor, as it will drink fuel if the ECU thinks the engine is cold all the time.

Could be a crank shaft position sensor if it's cutting out when warm but that wouldn't explain the thurst for fuel.

Where are you in the country mate??

tx moggytech for the fast reply iv gt a friend with who works at a mot station and he says the same but from wht iv read it could be 1 of 4 things so i think your right will have to put it on a vag-com im near dudley in the westmidlands if anyone can help.today iv had to pop to the docs and when i came out 20mins later it did it again so i diconnected the temp control senser turned it off then it started fine so might try it out for the day and see if it stops.. @tokyophil yes m8 could well be as my friend in the garage says it is the crank senser but most cars iv been told by alot of friend tht when the crank senser goes it would limit the revs or lose power and iv not had these probs so gonna hav to scrape sum money and gt the codes of it the management light not gone out for two days now so my friend might be able to use his draper one as it only reads when the management light on thanks guys will keep you posted on progress.oh yea it seems to me like it pinking between 2 and 3000 rpm when under strain is tht normal as me dad recons cars dont pink for no reason could tht be due to worn tappits

As a temp fix you can disconnect the temp sensor, and the ECU will use a default value, which is somewhere close to average ambient air temperature. Will waste a bit of fuel, but should stop the hot starting issues.
