What suspension to go for? (Budget about

Featured Replies

Right after an inspection of my VRS while its still in pieces the front shocks are both leaking. What would people recommend to do? I currently have a Bilstein Streetline kit which is ok, just the front shocks are away.

I thought about AP coilovers - I also contemplated FSD's from Awesome while they are on 20% discount - to be fitted with the Bilstein springs. I want it to handle well and be fairly comfortable at motorway speed. I drive every kind of road to work - A-road, B-road, single track & dual carriageway. I'm not wanting to drag its **** as low as possible (my Polo is for that!) - but I want it to look like its lowered.

maybe a touch lower at the back??

I have AP's and to be honest the ride on a roads and motorways is pretty much the same as standard.

However around town on uneven back roads its pretty atrocious I expect most coilovers are the same.

But as most of my driving is on the a470 I find it to be pretty good.

AP, FK or Weitecs are in that budget... then fitting varies from £100 - £200 + vat, then aligment is usually around £100... not cheap but does a great deal for handling and looks!

I rate the APs with the exception that they are noisy at low speed. I have traced the issue to the top mounts and on the Fabia they require the spring to hold agaist the mount to keep the bearing together. When wound down there just isnt enough tension to keep the mounting in place and at low speeds they clunk. I have ordered some helper springs and collector collets to see if it will help.
