New Fabia owner, central Scotland

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm a member of other (non-Skoda) forums for the various cars I've owned over the past few years, but I thought I'd sign up here now that we've got a Fabia vRS in the family :)

We picked up an '05-plate Fabia vRS in silver, completely standard, last night in a private sale in Edinburgh. Great condition for age, a few stone chips and scratches as you'd expect, but all original paintwork and bodywork and FSH. It's currently with my father-in-law having new front tyres fitted (Pirelli P Zero Nero's) as the front tyres are approaching the end of their life, but we'll have it back later today or tomorrow.

I currently drive a BMW Z4 3.0i roadster but my previous car was a Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI, so I've always had more than a passing interest in Fabia vRS's (I almost bought one several years ago but favoured the Ibiza for the extra power and better brakes/suspension). It's already given me the ideas for subtle mods to the Fabia (LCR front splitter, Eibach springs, refurb the alloys darker), although I reckon the wife would kill me if I start with all that...

I've always heard good things about Briskoda, so thought it'd be rude not to sign up and say hello. I'm away to look for info on roof bars as we're needing bike-carrying capability on the Fabia...

I'll get some pics once it's up to my standards of appearance :D

Cheers

Ally

Welcome :)

Welcome, great car, you could always suggest a holiday with the girls and suprise her with the mods on her return!! lol.

Welcome to briskoda, make sure to check out the scottish region of briskoda for meets.

Hello! :wave23d:

Cheers folks.

Yep, I'll keep an eye on the meets section. I was briefly involved with Scottish VAG too during my Ibiza ownership, so I know a bit about their meets.

Mods - nah, we're keeping the car very subtle due to her parking it at her work: if it slips below the radar of more folk we'll be happy. Not the best car parks that she always has to use.

welcome along

Well, I got my first drive in the wife's vRS tonight (I need to remember and say it's not mine in case she checks on here LOL) - it's bloody quick :D

It's 8 months since I sold my Ibiza Cupra TDI so it's not comparing back-to-back, but I doubt there's much in it despite the vRS's 30bhp deficit. More than quick enough in most scenarios. Ride definately softer than the Ibiza: that's a bonus in that you feel bumps far less, but also more body roll for sure.

I also didn't realise the seats in the Fabia vRS are so good - loads of side support, lots better than the seats in my Ibiza. Shame the white fabric needs a good shampooing though.

(sorry, I'll be continually comparing it with my old car as I very nearly bought a vRS myself before getting the Ibiza!)

I'm going to like this car. Is it possible to be jealous even though I have my own Z4?!

Welcome.
